Understanding and Doing My Mid-Term

The Mid-term is on watching a lot of television while growing up and if it causes people to be violent adults.
My claim to this is that I believe it is possible for children to grow up violent after watching a lot of television as they grow up.

My Notes
Staistics:
(link: http://kidshealth.org/parent/positive/family/tv_affects_child.html#)
- by the time children are 18 they have seen an estimation of 200,000 to 300,000 acts of violence on television and witness 8,000 murders to 16,000 murders.
- they get confused by the messages they recieve about violence from their parents with the messages they recieve from television
- it is recommneded that children under the age of two not watch any television at all since those are the most crucuial years of development in a child's life
- children older than two should not watch more than 1-2 hours of edifying television
- children who watch 4 or more hours of television are more likely to exhibit agressive behavior and perform violent acts as well as be afraid of the world around them

- TV viewing among kids is at an eight-year high. On average, children ages 2-5 spend 32 hours a week in front of a TV—watching television, DVDs, DVR and videos, and using a game console. Kids ages 6-11 spend about 28 hours a week in front of the TV. The vast majority of this viewing (97%) is of live TV [1].
- 68% of 8- to 18-year-olds have a TV in their bedroom; 54% have a DVD/VCR player, 37% have cable/satellite TV, and 20% have premium channels [2].
- In 63% of households, the TV is "usually" on during meals [3].
- In 53% of households of 7th- to 12th-graders, there are no rules about TV watching [4].
- In 51% of households, the TV is on "most" of the time [5].
- Kids with a TV in their bedroom spend an average of almost 1.5 hours more per day watching TV than kids without a TV in the bedroom.
- Many parents encourage their toddlers to watch television.
